Product & Tech Town Hall
The Product & Tech Town Hall by the International News Media Association (INMA) represents a report card to members and the news industry we serve about what our network has learned in 2025 about one of the fastest-moving and rising subjects in news media. This based on the learnings distilled by Jodie Hopperton, Product & Tech Initiative lead for INMA, across more than 150 meetings, research, and discussions with product and technology leaders outside of news.
Product & Tech Initiative
INMA’s Product & Tech Initiative looks at how media organisations can utilise technology and develop standout products — creating offerings that delight customers and enhance business growth.
Among deliverables INMA members have received in 2024:
- Newsletters and blogs: 23 bi-weekly newsletters and 50+ blogs based on original interviews and insights with product & tech leaders at media companies.
- Slack channel: Hundreds of posts by Jodie on developments around the news industry with product & tech, along with feedback from INMA members.
- Webinars: 8 Webinars dissecting the GenAI landscape at media companies, mostly case studies.
- Reports: A report on how news organisations should work with AI companies.
- Master class and workshops: A March master class looked at how to build direct audiences in the face of pending collapse of search and social traffic. A World Congress product & tech seminar in New York and CEO Roundtable session in Napa Valley on how publishers fit in to a world of abundance amid the AI content tsunami.
- Ask Me Anything sessions: Jodie has conducted more than 30 high-impact Ask Me Anything sessions with INMA corporate members — via Zoom, in person, via e-mail, and by way of a myriad of other member-exclusive channels.

Jodie Hopperton, Product & Tech Initiative Lead
Jodie Hopperton is a British media executive based in Los Angeles. Jodie’s career spans more than 20 years and multiple countries working with technology start-ups in addition to roles such as head of interactive at Trinity Mirror in the United Kingdom and director EMEA, syndication and licensing for The New York Times in Paris.
